Left: Tygra and Mumm-Ra driving together Right: Panthro and Vultureman in their cobbled vehicle I’m sure the upcoming episodes will do more to canonically explain this decision, while choosing to not fully dive into it during her first appearance is definitely an interesting take compared to other character introductions.
I didn’t do too much digging just to be spoiler free for myself moving into the last two posts, but I think it’s interesting for the producers to choose to create another Thunderian who has no ties to the events of Thundera’s destruction. I actually had to check this time around to make sure, but I was right in that Lion-S was a new character introduced to ThunderCats Roar. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth’s wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.Īpparently, the animated series will debut on Cartoon Network in February of 2020.
Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats - Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit - barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. You can go ahead and watch what you like.Īnyway, the premiere can be viewed on the Cartoon Network app. The same goes for the 1985 ThunderCats series, the unfortunately short-lived 2011 series, and ThunderCats Roar. The world was given the Teen Titans animated series and now it has Teen Titans Go! Both can exist. Literal grownups need to understand this and let it be.Īlso, why not watch the reboot before deciding to hate it? While I wasn’t into the idea of Teen Titans Go! existing, after watching that series I quickly ended up becoming a fan. The creative team is obviously targeting a far younger audience, and that’s fine. It is clear that the current reboot isn’t primarily for those who grew up with the original series. And you know what? I didn’t care back in 2018 and I still don’t care in 2020. Of course, many didn’t like the animation style and thought it disrespected the original series by targeting very young kids.
I reported about CN creating ThunderCats Roar back in May of 2018. You can go ahead and stream the two-part first episode right now. ThunderCats Roar (Image: Screengrab) It looks like ThunderCats Roar was indeed a thing Cartoon Network wanted to make happen, even though the show missed the initial 2019 release date.
